During the fifth edition of the Job Gate Employment Fair, Ms. Riham Al-Ashmar, People & Culture Manager at BeeOrder, delivered a lecture titled:
“Skills First, Paper Last”
During the lecture, Ms. Riham discussed the concept of skills-based hiring, which focuses on actual skills and competencies, and the importance of looking at a candidate’s abilities and potential beyond what is written on their CV, in line with modern developments in recruitment and hiring practices.
The lecture also explored the importance of building more flexible and effective recruitment processes that focus on skills, the ability to learn, adaptability, collaboration, and accountability, alongside the role organizational culture plays in attracting and retaining talent.
Ms. Riham also shared her professional experience in human resources and team leadership, highlighting the importance of building a work environment based on continuous learning, collaboration, a sense of responsibility, and freedom linked to responsibility, contributing to the development of both individuals and organizations.
The lecture witnessed active engagement from attendees and discussions about the future of recruitment and how to move away from the traditional focus on formal qualifications toward a more comprehensive assessment of the skills and abilities needed in today’s labor market.
