The Syrian Academic Summit

With active participation in the #SAFEER Conference (Syrian Academic Summit for Innovation, Research, Education, and Reform), held under the auspices of the #Ministry_of_Higher_Education and #Scientific_Research from September 15 to 17, 2025, at the #Reda_Saeed Hall – #University_of_Damascus, the Human Resources Management Foundation participated, represented by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Munir Abbas, as a speaker on the first day of the conference.
Dr. Abbas’s intervention came under the second axis: “The Economic and Social Role of Higher Education,” titled: “Bridging the Gap between the #Labor_Market and #Higher_Education_Outcomes,” where he presented the foundation’s 18-year experience in supporting youth and graduates through:
✅ Employing more than 30,000 job-seeking youth.
✅ Organizing more than 250 events, conferences, and job fairs.
✅ Building over 400 partnerships with major companies.
✅ Providing practical training for more than 4,200 trainees within companies through Internship programs. Dr. Abbas also presented a set of practical proposals to bridge the gap between education and the labor market, most notably:
• Linking academic teaching and the selection of university professors to practical experience in the private sector before being chosen for the teaching staff.
• Partnerships between universities, the private sector, and private sector institutions specialized in the labor market, and training and qualifying youth with labor market skills, such as the Human Resource Management Institution.
• Establishing academic and career guidance centers within universities.
• Enhancing entrepreneurship programs, business incubators, and accelerators.
• Supporting in-company training programs and providing incentives to hire graduates.
• Moving from the principle of loyalty to the principle of performance in evaluating teaching staff.
✨ More than 300 university professors from Syria and several countries around the world participated in the conference, forming a high-level scientific and academic dialogue platform.
