Human Resources Management Foundation launches the second edition of “Career Guidance Day”.. practical steps to empower youth and connect them to the job market
Damascus – Media Office of the Human Resources Management Foundation
In the framework of its firm commitment to supporting and qualifying young cadres for effective integration into the job market, the Human Resources Management Foundation (IHRM), in cooperation with the Qodrat Center for Youth Empowerment (affiliated with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor), organized, with a remarkable presence, the activities of the second edition of “Career Guidance Day”.
This initiative adopted by the Foundation comes as part of its periodic career guidance program, through which it seeks to dedicate Wednesday of every month to providing guidance support to job seekers, in line with international labor standards in bridging the gap between academic outputs and changing market requirements.
A vision toward a “skills market”
In a statement, Dr. Munir Abbas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Human Resources Management Foundation—a long-standing civil association with nearly 19 years of experience—confirmed that the event witnessed an increasing attendance of 160 participants, compared to 110 in the previous edition. Dr. Abbas explained that the Syrian job market today is undergoing a transitional phase toward a “skills economy,” where practical competence has become the basic criterion for employment, stressing that these workshops represent an essential preparatory station for the fifth edition of the “Job Opportunities Forum” scheduled to be held on next September 5th.
Rich axes and applied skills
The day’s activities included a series of specialized lectures, most notably:
“Skills for entering the job market”: presented by Dr. Munir Abbas, addressing 23 basic skills to launch a professional career.
“Personal marketing and digital identity”: presented by Mr. Omar Al-Sayed Laham, focusing on the importance of building a professional identity and enhancing professional presence, especially through the “LinkedIn” platform.
Direct bridges with leading companies
The event was characterized by opening a space for direct networking between job seekers and a selection of human resources managers, who shared their experiences and received the participants’ CVs, who are:
Mr. Anas Nweilati (Indomie and B2B).
Mr. Mahmoud Shalfon (Omaya Class).
Ms. Alice Al-Shoufi (Al-Samman International Shipping Company).
Ms. Samah Shoura (Magilla Company).
These interactions culminated in the announcement by Mr. Anas Nweilati of providing training opportunities ending in employment for more than 100 sales representatives, in addition to an overall announcement of more than 60 job opportunities in the fields of accounting, leadership, and others, reflecting the tangible impact of these initiatives.
Future aspirations
The Human Resources Management Foundation is currently preparing for the fifth edition of the “Job Opportunities Forum,” which is expected to provide between 4000 and 5000 job opportunities, with the participation of more than 60 local and international companies. The Foundation confirms its continuation in its free awareness and training role to enhance the readiness of youth and build sustainable professional relationships that serve the national economy.
